Crossings Comunidad Cristiana celebrates
by Associate Pastor Salvador Hernandez (October 2008)
We give thanks to you, O God, we give thanks, for your Name is near; men tell of your wonderful deeds (Psalm 75:1, NIV).
We give thanks to the Lord for all he has done at Crossings Comunidad Cristiana.
God is using Crossings south campus as a place of healing and restoration for the wounded. People who did not have a personal relationship with Jesus, but instead were slaves to sin, have been set free by the blood of Christ. Just a week ago one of our visitors said, "It had been years since I went to church, but now that I came to Crossings I would love to come every Sunday with my family." Another person told me, "When I first came to the church I did not want to come. I came because my son wanted to go to Sunday School. However, when I left that Sunday I realized this is what I need in my life. I thank God He brought me to this church."
VBS and our Fiesta Celebration were huge blessings. It was amazing to see the backyard of the church filled with around 600 people who came from the surrounding neighborhood. The children had a great time playing on the inflatable games. Members from Crossings north and south campuses were working together for the Lord’s kingdom. 20 people received Jesus Christ as their personal Savior that day, and three of those families are coming to our church now. God touched and changed their lives.
We thank the Lord that people are hungry to hear His Word. We are so grateful that it was on His heart to use Crossings north campus to start the church that we now belong to on the south side of the city. With all the support and resources Crossings north campus has given us, we have been able to share the Bread of Life to our entire neighborhood. I believe this is only the beginning of what the Lord is going to do at Crossings Comunidad Cristiana.
You are welcome to come and visit anytime to see what God is up to at Crossings south campus.
On Saturday evening, August 16, 2008 we invited the whole Hispanic community to come and celebrate with the kids who attended VBS and to hear about the new church. There was free food, live music, inflatable slides, and games for the kids. Each family that attended also received a bag of school supplies and information inviting them to the church.
One of the most exciting things to watch was volunteers from Crossings “north” campus work side by side with volunteers from Crossings “south” campus. A different language and culture made no difference as all the volunteers worked together to share the love of Jesus. What a picture of the Body of Christ!
