"Be transformed by the renewing of your mind." |
Preparing for the Marriage of a LifetimeA goal of Crossings LifeCare Ministries is that every couple married at Crossings be exposed to the important building blocks of a Christian marriage.Because we are committed to building strong marriages, we ask couples to attend Preparing for the Marriage of a Lifetime -- an nine-week course demonstrating what a healthy marriage looks like and helping participants to evaluate their relationships.Couples at Crossings who attend Preparing for the Marriage of a Lifetime are taught how to experience marital satisfaction.Steve and Erin Coy discovered they can design their marriage from the very beginning within the boundaries God has created for them. “We were encouraged to pray together and were taught that the best gift we could give each other was to love the Lord.” They value learning the “difference between true intimacy and sex as displayed by the media.” Steve stated, “We feel more prepared for unexpected circumstances and know where to go to get help if we need it.”Chris and Heather Beard especially appreciated the personality and psychological tests given throughout the course. “We felt we developed a better understanding of ourselves and each other, our individual roles in the marriage, and how to be realistic about possible hindrances we may face down the road.” Also important to them were the homework assignments, which provided opportunities to talk and think things through. According to Chris, “We learned how to communicate more effectively by improving our listening skills, and how to resolve conflicts.”

Engaged couples desiring a Crossings pastor to perform their ceremony are required to complete the series. Couples unable to attend the nine-week course can substitute sessions covering similar topics in the premarital series with a professional Christian counselor.7 Steps in planning your wedding at Crossings Community Church
