"...and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the opressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday."

Crossings Community Center/Clinic

Steve Turner, Director of he Community Center Steve Turner

My goals include "building bridges between the church and the community"

“After years of being involved in private business and health segments of the market,” explains Steve, “I knew I would eventually serve full-time in some type of ministry capacity. It was my willingness to fall into God’s plan for my life—earlier than I had anticipated—that’s placed me in this new position.”
In March 2008, Steve launched into full-time work at the Community Center. Through development and expansion of programs, Steve hopes to appeal to the interests of those in need.
His goals include “building bridges between the church and the community through service programs, while reaching physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.”

Steve’s service in the Missions/Outreach Ministries extends beyond his current position; he has spent seven years as an active participant on the Missions Committee and six years on the Crossings Elder Board. His perception of Crossings’ external focus and internal strength reinforce the church’s ability to build bridges throughout the community.

Christina's Story
Jesus says in Mark 10, “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.” And that’s what Steve believes: Good News comes with truth and action; we are to be doers of the Word.

Celebrate Recovery is coming to the Community Center

We are excited to announce that Celebrate Recovery will begin at Crossings Community Center on Thursday, November 6.

Celebrate Recovery (CR) is a Christ-Centered recovery program based on the 12 Steps and the eight principles from the Beatitudes. It’s an internationally recognized program to help individuals with their hurts, habits, and hang-ups. It can be summed up as “helping pain change through Jesus Christ in the ministry of the Holy Spirit.” CR provides an opportunity to deal with the challenges of both the past and present and is used to transform lives and help people grow towards full Christ-like maturity.

The Vision

God has been using our church to impact Oklahoma City for nearly 50 years. We’re reaching people where they are, serving the Lord together, helping meet some basic needs, and showing Jesus’ love in a real way.

We’ve discovered thousands of men, women and children do not have adequate access to quality medical care. Many within our own congregation are uninsured or under-insured. The burden on area hospital emergency rooms is huge. We're helping to bridge the gap by providing free general family medical care to those in need and referrals to Crossings’ specialists who are able to handle more difficult situations in their own offices.

The Ministry

Crossings Community Clinic’s mission is to proclaim the message of Jesus Christ in our lives, to provide health and education services in the service of Jesus Christ to His people, and to respond to the call of Jesus to grow in faith and spirituality through serving Him. The Clinic serves adults who are uninsured or otherwise without access to primary care. The hours of service are determined by the availability of our volunteer medical professionals, but generally the clinic is open to patients on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday afternoon/evenings. Other days and times are offered as providers are available. All patient visits are scheduled by appointment.

The Club

A Christian-based tutoring/mentoring program for middle school students from John Marshall starts Thursday afternoon, October 25, at the new Crossings Community Center (2208 W. Hefner Road). Demonstrate the power of one and change the future of a student by letting your light shine on Thursday afternoons during the school year. Read more

Donations

Crossings Community Clinic is a sponsored ministry of Crossings Community Church—its needs for money, time and materials/supplies is provided by the donations of church members.

Unopened supplies of—children’s Tylenol & Motrin, Band-Aids, adult Tylenol, Motrin and aspirin, sterile gauze pads, pocket packs of Kleenex, disinfectant hand wipes, toothbrushes and toothpaste, empty medicine containers and sample medicine—are accepted at the church’s main reception area.

Volunteers

Many volunteers—both medical and non-medical persons of all ages—staff and operate the clinic. Volunteers greet and register patients, answer phones, help with paperwork, escort patients to their various appointments, assist with managing supplies, and more. Some volunteers work during patient clinic hours and others are needed at other times to assist with the administrative functions of this ministry.

Whatever your gift, please share it with this exciting ministry.
