Mission Opportunities
The Missions Office has compiled a list of ideas and opportunities for individuals, small groups, and Sunday School classes to serve in our community. Please use this as a springboard to find a ministry or organization that fits the hearts, passions, and talents of your group. Consider finding a ministry that you can be involved with throughout the year. Contact information has been provided for your convenience.
Youth friendly projects are denoted with an asterisk (*).
BritVil Food Pantry
A community food pantry that ministers to families in need.
Volunteer Opportunities:
- Willing Hands - help get food into the hands of families (Monday through Friday, 9-11 a.m.)
- Substitutes – flexible people needed who can be called on to be substitutes (Monday through Friday, 9-11 a.m.)
- Husband & Wife Team – to clean food pantry once or twice a month
- Artist – to paint a mural for the kids to enjoy in the waiting area
- Evening Volunteers – to enable pantry to be open one evening a week
Material Gifts:
- Food Items - peanut butter, canned meats, boxed food (cake mixes, hamburger helper, etc.), canned fruits and vegetables
- Bibles - Spanish and English New Testaments or Bibles to distribute to families
- Coloring Books - to be given to children who come with parents

City Rescue Mission
Provides daily meals and shelter for the homeless and an opportunity for temporary housing through a program designed to teach biblical truth with practical steps for living.
Volunteer Opportunities:
- Front Desk receptionist - 3 hours in morning or afternoon
- *Tutoring and mentoring for adults, youth, and children
- *Clothing Room - assist sorting and organizing clothing closet
- *Lawn Care - help maintain Rescue Mission grounds
- *Painting - projects vary according to need
(*Youth projects limited to group of 10 or fewer)

Crossings Community Clinic
Provides free medical care to the community at 2208 W. Hefner Road.
Open by appointment only.
Volunteer Opportunities:
- Medical:
Primary Care Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Nurses,
Dentists, Dental Hygienist, Dental Assistants,
Ophthalmologists
Licensed Mental Health Practitioners
Pharmacists, Dietitians.(for direct patient care or patient education)
- Clerical Assistance: answering telephones, registering patients, assist with supply inventory, help with paperwork, data entry, etc.
- Patient Support: assist patients with completing paperwork, take vital signs, be in room with patient
- Prayer Partner: pray with patients, for caregivers and facilities, write follow-up encouragement notes.

Grace Fellowship of OKC, Inc
A ministry that provides a place of worship and a meal to the homeless --"the poor reaching out in ministry to the destitute.".
Volunteer Opportunities:
- Sunday Lunch - choose a week to prepare and serve lunch to the homeless community of OKC. This is a great group project for a class or small group. The director of the ministry can guide you through this process and give details about quantity and servings

King's Klinic
A free medical clinic currently with enough volunteers and resources to be open four days each month (1-4 p.m. on Mondays & 4:30-6:30 p.m. on Tuesdays)
Volunteer Opportunities:
- Physicians & Nurses - willing to see patients from 4:30-6:30 p.m. on Tuesday evenings
- *Data entry- enter patient information into computer
- *File Clerk-file patient charts and pull them as needed
- *Prayer Warriors-King's Klinic knows that Christ is the ultimate healer and they pray that each patient finds Christ
- *Divide medications - fill prescriptions by counting out pills from bulk bottle to individual container
- Youth and all ages of adults are welcomed!
Material Gifts:
- Empty/used prescription bottles - this is an opportunity to clean out medicine cabinets

Living Faith Ministry
A ministry that assists men released from prison as they reintegrate into society and disciples them in their Christian walk
Volunteer Opportunities:
- Mentoring - provide support, counsel, friendship, encouragement and a listening ear. Requirements are time, love, understanding, trust & commitment to God and whom you are mentoring
Material Gifts:
- Financial Gifts - help with building costs and remodeling

OKC Food Bank
Provides food to various food distribution ministries, schools, churches and shelters. The Food Bank's distribution warehouse is a large modern facility at SW 36th and Purdue (between MacArthur and Ann Arbor) where food is sorted, packaged, stored and readied for delivery.
Volunteer Opportunities:
- *Service Projects - Bring a group of 10+ and help sort and package food items. (Saturday AM or PM - 3 hour commitment)
- Groups up to 125 people are welcomed!

Pershing Center
Offers a two-year program with a full array of supportive housing services for the homeless. This beautiful facility has 60 apartment units equipped with kitchenettes and bathrooms as well as several common "family room" areas.
Volunteer Opportunities:
- Birthday Card Writer - most residents lack family and support systems, so someone caring enough to write a note is a tremendous encouragement.
- Mentor - Residents are working on learning life skills and building character. Consistent support and encouragement needed!
- Activities or Crafts - plenty of space is available for creating a once-a-month game night or craft night where residents can participate in family fun.
- Adopt-A-Door - Residents take ownership of the area around their doorway and would love to have someone provide seasonal decorations for their doors and entryways.
Material Gifts:
- Seasonal Decorations (Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentine's Day, etc) for:
--Dining Room - 12 dining table centerpieces
--Residents Doorways - Wreaths, Lights, doormats, etc…!
--Anything to make a house a home!
- Bibles - many residents don't own a Bible
- Treadmill & Workout equipment
- Books - for children and adults
- Furniture - residents who graduate from the program move into their own residency and acquire their own furniture

Shepherds of Love
Sharing Christ, Ministering to the Needy in Crisis, Offering Hope
Founded by Crossings member Teresa Rountree, Shepherds of Love serves needy families in crisis situations of Oklahoma City. Teresa prays for each individual, offers words of encouragement and a copy of the Bible, and is often able to meet a physical need such as a utility bill, gas for a car or groceries.
Volunteer Opportunities & Material Gifts:
- Financial Gift - pay towards the utility bills of needy families

Whiz Kids Tutor
A pencil and 120 minutes—that’s all it takes, and you could change a child’s life.
Whiz Kids is a faith-based, one-on-one volunteer tutoring/mentoring program for students first through eighth grade. This program aids children throughout Oklahoma City where the highest drop-out rates and lowest socioeconomic levels exist. Whiz Kids sites are located at churches within each school's community.
Requirements:
Read at least at a fifth grade reading level
Be prompt and dedicated to serving in this ministry
Enjoy interacting with children, hugs included
