U-Picked-It Sermon Series Survey
“Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise.” |
February 3, 2008 Sermon NotesPastor
Marty Grubbs -- February 3, 2008 Abraham believed and was faithful. “… and
the Lord had blessed him in every way.” -Genesis 24:1 Prayer provides wisdom and discernment. “Then
he prayed, ‘O Lord, God of my master Abraham, give me success today.’” -Genesis
24:12 Action steps:
“I will
go.” -Rebecca, in Genesis 24:58 “Jesus …
give me one glorious ambition for my life: To know and
follow hard after You. To grow as Your disciple in the
truth. This world is empty, pale, and poor compared to knowing You my Lord, lead me on and I will run after You.” —Mark Altrogge A morning thought... In search of finding God’s will for our
lives, we become as little children who daydream that they can do the
impossible: fly like Superman or overpower villains as Power Rangers. God
empowers each human being with gifts and a desire to use those gifts for His
honor and glory. “Each person is given something to do
that shows who God is: Everyone gets in on it, everyone benefits” [I
Corinthians 12:7, The Message].
The sooner God’s people understand and become intentional in embracing the
process of being used of God to accomplish what He intends for them to do, the
greater good for God’s kingdom will be realized. There will be an explosion of
mission, of purpose, and of kingdom growth. I do not feel obliged to believe that the
same God who has endowed us with sense, reason, and intellect has intended us
to forgo their use. So it is that we embrace the elements God has placed within
us along with prayer to sustain and forge the new territories God has
envisioned us to inhabit. The Apostle Paul says, “Throw
yourselves into the work of the Master, confident that nothing you do for Him
is a waste of time or effort” [1 Corinthians 15:50; The
Message]. Dreams become reality! —George Skramstad, 2008 |
